Another podcast coming soon - If you have any tracks you want included or got something to say about the Kent punk/alt scene in general then please get in contact.
If anyone has any better or alternative versions of any of the tracks here, then again contact us coz we would like to feature them in the podcasts.
Again a massive thanks to John Wood (Jesus Fix and others) Daz Champ (The Commited)
Jay Heasman (The Filthys) and all The Half Wits for being them and apologies for calling you The Nit Wits
Excellent stuff ... good to see so many Kent bands still alive & kicking (even if I have emmigrated to Lancashire myself lol) ... Top job :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark it was good to see you even if i didnt get to talk to you at Gravesend.
ReplyDeleteCheers for this, I must admit to being pretty naive to many of these bands, for a while I simply thought punk was pretty thin on the ground in Kent, haha! Mind you, Im up in Swanley where barely anything ever happens in terms of gigs. Thanks for bringing these bands to my attention - I run a fanzine blog, News from the Front, reviewing punk and ska punk bands albums and shows etc in the local underground scene and beyond, so I look forward to digging up more on the bands you featured here.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I might be a bit biased, but well done for featuring The Submission in there - Ive reviewed a couple of their records and shows on my blog, and loved every single one of them. Great band. Cheers for assembling this compo and great site, and I look forward to further mixes :)
Hello Adam - cheers for the comment. Some of the bands featured in both podcasts no longer exist. (from this one Atavistic, X-Cretas and The Commited who played their last gig in Gravesend in January)
ReplyDeleteMost of the rest are still pretty active.
Two kent bands play at Rebellion this year - The Warriors & Tyrannasaurus Alan.
Also keep an eye on whats happening at the Maidens Head in Canterbury - punk gigs every few weeks and well attended - Citizen Fish, Decadent Few and 7DC this friday and its free entry.
Uk Subs and The Warriors play in Sheerness at the Castle on June 4th - hope to see ya there.
Your blog has been added to the links.
Shame man, always a shame to see good bands fold. Good to hear so many still going though.
ReplyDeleteT-Alan are one of the best in the underground right now, such a good live band, great fun. Canters is a bit far away for me to reach on public transport, but I'm sure I can make it down there, I've not seen 7DC for ages, when I heard them a few years back, I thought they were very promising and sounded good, I'll see if I can get down there. My dad's a massive Subs fan so Ill see if I can persuade him to join me for the jaunt to Sheerness!
Thanks mate, I appreciate the coverage :)
